With years of experience as a stake pool, NAP already has a solid track record!

Most stake pools began their operations in or after July 2020, following the launch of staking on Cardano.

However, our pool, NAP, began operating as early as December 2019 during Cardano’s testnet phase. Including the preparation period leading up to the testnet, we have accumulated extensive hands-on experience dealing with various issues involving Cardano’s systems and the blockchain network, repeatedly testing and refining our responses to such problems. This experience has enabled us to operate NAP as a highly stable and reliable stake pool. As of May 7, 2020, we had already successfully produced 15,000 blocks.

Fast and Reliable Block Data Retrieval Across Multiple Nodes!

During the ITN testnet (which has now ended), while many stake pool operators were running their pools on a single node, NAP operated with two nodes.

With Shelley, we further upgraded our server specifications beyond IOG’s recommended requirements. Our infrastructure consists of one block-producing node and multiple relay nodes, enabling faster and more reliable block propagation and synchronization.

Server Locations

Choosing where to locate our servers—which countries and regions to operate them in—is extremely important. For reliable block production, the network proximity and connectivity between our nodes and other stake pools play a key role, as server location can significantly affect the speed of block propagation. This is an important factor that can ultimately impact staking rewards. NAP has designed its infrastructure and server-location strategy with these factors in mind.

  • After conducting our own network speed tests, we relocated our servers to locations with superior P2P connectivity, resulting in faster block propagation across the Cardano network.

We continuously monitor, test, and analyze our infrastructure.

In addition to our production servers, NAP maintains dedicated test servers that allow us to continuously test and optimize our systems for stable and efficient operation. These test servers also serve as part of our contingency setup, enabling us to quickly bring them online as temporary backup servers in the event of an issue with our production servers.

  • NAP joined the testnet in Epoch 11, and since then, we have conducted extensive testing and validation to continuously improve our pool operations.

  • While all stake pools run on the same Cardano system, the way each pool is configured, fine-tuned, and optimized can vary significantly.

We stay up to date by continuously gathering the latest information from international sources.

It is still very difficult to find up-to-date information in Japanese about stake pool operations and system configuration. By continuously keeping up with the latest information available in English, we are able to respond quickly and effectively to technical issues and implement the most appropriate solutions.

  • We actively gather the latest technical information related to Cardano, primarily through English-language technical communities on Telegram, as well as English-language websites, YouTube channels, and other international sources.

  • We also maintain communication with highly skilled engineers in the global Cardano community, continuously keeping our technical knowledge and information up to date.
